IV Latin American Workshop on Higher Education Indicators
The IV Latin American Workshop on Higher Education Indicators will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on September 12 and 13, 2019, convened by the Red Iberoamericana de Indicadores de Educación Superior-Red IndicES (Ibero-American Network of Higher Education Indicators). The activity is organized by the Observatorio Iberoamericano de la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Sociedad-OCTS-OEI (Ibero-American Observatory of Science, Technology and Society) together with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Argentina and the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS).
The objective of the workshop is to analyze and compare information collected in 20 countries, identify new indicators to improve the coverage of the IndicES Network information, and suggest actions for the upgrading of the statistical capabilities in higher education at a regional level.
On the second day of the meeting, within the framework of the space defined for proposals for the construction of indicators on internationalization of higher education in Latin America, the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC) will present its document Mobility in higher education in Latin America and the Caribbean: challenges and opportunities for a renewed agreement, which will be discussed and used as a starting point to review existing indicators on academic mobility at a regional level and future needs.
This regional collaboration initiative also has the support of the Junta de Andalucía. Consejería de Economía, Conocimiento, Empresas y Universidad, and the IESALC.
