VENEZUELA AND IESALC DEFINE COLLABORATIVE ACTIONS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

On February 6, the Director of the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC), Francesc Pedró, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to UNESCO, Héctor Constant Rosales, who currently chairs GRULAC (Latin American Caribbean Group) and also the PX Commission (Draft decisions recommended by the Committee on Program and External Relations) at UNESCO. During the meeting, they discussed the details of the next headquarters agreement between Venezuela and UNESCO IESALC, and explored possibilities of establishing a closer collaboration with the country’s universities, particularly in relation to the comparative analysis of public higher education policies. The director of the IESALC appreciated the efforts of the Bolivarian Government to enable better conditions that contribute to the international projection of the Institute’s work, in order to increase the impact on member States in the region and on a global scale. He also noted the importance of the recently initiated mutual collaboration to incorporate Masters and Postgraduate students specializing in higher education from all regions, thus expanding the institute’s capacity.
