Good University Practices for Virtual Mobility are wanted
The deadline for submitting good practices in internationalization has been extended to July 1st 2020. This is an initiative launched in early March by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC), the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba as host of the III Regional Conference of Higher Education of Latin America and the Caribbean (CRES 2018), the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga in Colombia (UNAB) and the Ibero-American Chair on Education OEI-UAH of the Universidad de Alcalá in Spain.
All Ibero-American universities are invited to present the initiatives to promote their visibility and transfer, and encourage south-south exchange and cooperation, that they have designed and implemented during the last three years. Specifically, the areas of interest foreseen in the call are the following:
- Institutional internationalization policies and plans
- Incoming and outgoing mobility programs (for students/teachers/administration staff)
- Internationalization of the curriculum – Inter-culturality – Shared programs
- Collaborative research projects
- International extension programs and initiatives – Development Cooperation Programs
Initiatives can be submitted by filling this form.
The call has been extended as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and with the aim of now paying special attention to programs based on virtual exchanges; they are the ones that will make the internationalization of Ibero-American universities possible, despite the restrictions on international mobility that are expected to be maintained during the coming months.
A panel of experts will select the best practices submitted to the call, and they will be integrated into the Manual Iberoamericano de Buenas Prácticas en Internacionalización-MIBPI (Ibero-American Manual of Good Practices in Internationalization), which will be published this autumn. The aim is to disseminate them as widely as possible, and make it possible for them to be replicated by other universities in the region.
The selected universities will have the opportunity to present their good practices at an Ibero-American seminar which was to be held in June at the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga in Colombia, but that had to be postponed due to the health emergency. The organizing entities are attentive to the evolution of this emergency in order to set a new date, which will be duly communicated.
