Ibero-American Network of Networks for Sustainability to be established
On 15 March 2024, in the framework of CRES+5, held in Brasilia, and within the discussion “Emerging pedagogical and technological innovations: keys to hybrid education. UNAD Colombia case”, and with the purpose of sharing the vision of planetary sustainability, the creation of the Ibero-American Network of Networks was announced, created in Madrid, Spain, by UNESCO IESALC and 15 universities in the region. The event was attended by 52 rectors and more than 950 virtual participants from different countries of the continent.
Each contribution made clear not only the interest in constituting and participating proactively in the aforementioned Network of Networks, as a result of a collective will to transform, contribute and contribute to overcoming endogenous positions, which limit the opportunity of access and permanence to an education based on the connection with their communities and territories that guarantee the quality and relevance of training.
It is also a question of this network of networks adding to the educational hope of the millions of inhabitants of Latin America and the Caribbean as a dynamising factor of their social mobility, overcoming positions resistant to change that only reproduce a vicious circle of ineffectiveness in several of the educational systems of each country.
To give continuity to the constitution phase of this Network of Networks, we invite you to the Third Ibero-American Convention of Rectors and Academic Leaders to be held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, from 27 to 30 August 2024, where the strategic and technological support bases will be laid to assess the impacts on the SDGs and planetary sustainability as key pillars of their collective and supportive action.
