Seminar on quality and educational innovation at the Enrique Guzmán y Valle National University of Education
UNESCO IESALC and the National University of Education Enrique Guzmán y Valle (UNE) held a meeting at the headquarters of its Graduate School in Lima, Peru, to close the activities related to the creation of an educational innovation unit, the certification of digital courses and the monitoring of teaching performance.
As part of the pedagogical meeting, from 30 September to 2 October, a university quality consolidation workshop was held with the participants of the Diploma in University Management Strategies of the National Pedagogical University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (UNIPE), IESALC and the Training Programme for the Development of Institutional Improvement Plans, in which more than 200 teachers and administrative staff of the UNE participated.
The commemorative event included welcoming remarks by Lida Asencios Trujillo, rector of UNE, who highlighted the importance of the activities carried out in the framework of the strategic training alliance with UNESCO IESALC, which has favoured the development of UNE in the use of pedagogical strategies for the teaching-learning process in virtual, blended and hybrid environments following the demands of the UNE Educational Project.
Blanca Bernabé García, academic coordinator at UNESCO IESALC, highlighted the progress made by the participants and the value of the UNE initiative with the implementation of the Educational Innovation Unit, to consolidate the progress made in the programmes carried out. She also highlighted the importance of the long-term sustainability of the advances in virtualisation, a collaborative work that ensures technological development as a fundamental support for the educational service of the present and to transcend and overcome the challenges of the 21st century.
UNE is focused on continuous professional improvement to guarantee educational quality and to be recognised as an innovative institution in the training of the professionals required in this millennium. UNESCO IESALC’s participation in programmes such as these seeks to generate a strong impact on the development of higher education institutions in the region.
Teacher recognition
On 3 October, in activities prior to the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, UNESCO IESALC and the Universidad Pedagógica (UNIPE) awarded diplomas of recognition to UNE teachers together with the Rectorate and the Quality area of the University, thus rewarding those who have excelled in the virtualisation and quality programmes taught by UNESCO IESALC and in the framework of the Diploma in University Management taught with UNIPE.
We congratulate the award winners and recognise their support to teachers in the region in the development of the necessary competencies to achieve quality education as one of the bases for achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.
