8th ASEF Regional Conference on Higher Education (ARC8)

The  8^th ASEF Regional Conference on Higher Education (ARC8) is organised by the ASEF Rectors’ Conference and Students’ Forum (ARC) on Tuesday, 23 February 2021 at 7AM GMT. 

28 experts, university and student leaders, representing 37 organisations in Asia and Europe, accepted the invitation to work collaboratively on an ARC8 Outlook Report 2030: Inclusive and Diverse Higher Education in Asia and Europe. They are going to outline emerging issues that could grow into major challenges and opportunities in the coming 10 years in the  field of inclusion, and give recommendations for ASEM policy makers and for ASEM universities.

Francesc Pedró, the director of the UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC), will make a presentation to the working group based on the following 3 questions: 

(1) What is your take, how equitable are higher education policies and practices currently, what is the status quo?

(2) What potential risks do you foresee that could jeopardize equity in HE in the next 10 years?

(3) What opportunities, leverage points do you see to promote equity, access and success in HE in the next 10 years?
