Digital course: Zero Emissions Universities LATAM
1 October 2024 hora: 8:00 am - 30 November 2024 hora: 5:00 pm
In the global fight against climate change, universities have a key role to play. Their commitment to sustainability and, in particular, to achieving a zero carbon campus, not only contributes significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions but also sets an inspiring model for other institutions and society in general.
In partnership with the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the CEELA Team, UNESCO IESALC promotes the free digital course Zero Emissions Universities LATAM. This 20-hour digital training offers university professionals the opportunity to learn and share valuable knowledge on how to transform their institutions into sustainable and emission-free universities.
Participants will acquire knowledge and skills on the implementation of zero emission universities, addressing key areas such as building, mobility, energy, waste and recycling, value chains and offset mechanisms. The experiential learning methodology focuses on the transfer of practical knowledge and experience. In addition, the course promotes collaborative learning strategy, encouraging interaction and collaboration with other participants from different countries and areas.
Learning objectives:
- Achieve consensus around the concept of Zero Emissions.
- Structuring University project proposals for international funding sources
- To obtain funding for the successful implementation of Zero Emission University projects.
- Integrate the Zero Emissions theme in university education.
We invite university professionals from Latin America to present their zero emission roadmaps and share best practices and lessons learned from their decarbonization projects. The best “zero emission” institutional proposals will be awarded to receive technical support in their implementation process.
