Eurasia Programme Final Conference
14 June, 2022 - 16 June, 2022
The Eurasia Programme has been funding partnerships in higher education among Norway and Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan for the past 11 years. The programme is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is administered by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills.
At the concluding conference of this programme, Emma Sabzalieva, UNESCO IESALC Head of Higher Education Research and Policy Analysis, will deliver a keynote speech on The future of international cooperation in higher education in Eurasia and globally.
International cooperation in higher education has been on a steep upward trajectory, with higher education institutions and national systems of higher education becoming ever more interconnected. In parallel, global challenges and recent events are causing critical transformations to the geopolitical landscape in Eurasia and globally with implications for international higher education that are not yet fully known. In the future, will international cooperation be increasingly used for national political gain, driven by rationales of economic competitiveness and reinforcing global hierarchies? What are the prospects that it can instead lead to greater interconnectedness and mutual understanding, facilitated by technological advances?
