INCLUSION 360º: REDEFINING HIGHER EDUCATION
UNESCO IESALC launches the programme Inclusion 360°: Redefining Higher Education, a new programme aimed at promoting inclusion in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The 2030 Agenda has demanded a greater commitment from higher education institutions to ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education for all (SDG-4). In response to this call, many institutions have made important strides, incorporating inclusive language in their discourse or implementing services and programmes aimed at facilitating access for historically under-represented groups. These actions are very necessary, but they are insufficient to ensure a truly inclusive Higher Education.
At UNESCO IESALC, we want to strengthen the capacity of Higher Education institutions in the region to facilitate access, progress and participation of all social groups in the different university positions. In this way, we not only seek to promote an inclusive response aimed at the student body, but we also want to collaborate in the systemic transformation that guarantees the inclusion of the entire university community.
If you want to participate in the programme Inclusion 360°: Redefining Higher Education, you can do so through some of the actions presented below.
A STUDY ON INCLUSIVE POLICIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION
This study aims to find out about the different inclusion policies that are being developed in our region, who they are aimed at and what their results are. It also aims to identify those policies that could be considered as good practices to be replicated. If you are responsible for or are part of the development of an inclusive policy in your institution, we ask for your collaboration by answering this brief survey: https://short.gy/1gsdmq
LEADERS FOR INCLUSION TRAINING PROGRAMME
If you want to become an agent of change for inclusion from an intersectional and rights-based approach in your institution, we invite you to participate in this training programme. It is a proposal designed from a participatory and collaborative methodological approach that will be led by international teachers with extensive experience in inclusive education. Throughout the training, participants will be advised by a mentor who will accompany them in the process of designing and evaluating their own Inclusion Plan. In this way, we contribute to diversity not only being accepted by institutions, but also promoted as the most appreciated resource.
